It's kinda weird- here's the breakdown:
Physical Science: 8
Verbal Reasoning: 9
Biological Science: 12
Writing Sample: M

I am proud I got a 12, but the overall score is a little lopsided. I'm not stressing too much because if I had gotten a 9 in bio, I would have had a 26, which is what I estimated that I would get. The extra 3 points is just a welcome bonus!

The M is what concerns me. On MCAT's bizarre grading scale of J-S, M is on the low side. At least I can back up that I write well, since I've never gotten lower than an A in any English class EVER. Well maybe not middle school, but that doesn't count!

So I'm proud of my score, I think it's exactly what I need, since DO matriculates generally average 27.

Time to get on with phase 2, which is everything else. And by get on, I mean continue. Maybe I'll keep you posted. And by you I mean Nate and Megan lol.

Practice MCAT #1

Since I haven't been in school I have been reviewing as much as I can for the looming MCAT using mostly the Examkrackers Audio Osmosis and supplementing that with the good old Examkrackers review books. I've done very little practice problems, only subject review. I finally took the official free MCAT practice test to provide a baseline for myself and to know what I'm getting into.

Well, I'm half very proud of my score and half very worried that it was just a fluke. I got a 26, which is by no means an ace but the average DO score is 25 and the average score of UNECOM students is 27, so for a baseline I didn't do too bad!

My breakdown was:

Bio: 10

Physical: 6

Verbal: 10

WSCC has definitely prepared me for the bio section, except for the organic chemistry. In fact, I didn't even get halfway through the orgo review so I have no idea how I pulled off a 10. I knew Physical sciences would be my low point, and I plan on remedying it with extreme amounts of practice problems (examkrackers 1001 questions books!).

So, my studies are nowhere near done, there's plenty to review. The last thing I want to do is show up on test day and realize that my high practice scores were all flukes to guessing! I guessed a lot on this one, so I know I can't hope to be so lucky neck time. I also rushed through it, having about 10 minutes left after completing each section, and I didn't take any breaks. I can't wait till I take more practice exams, so I can plot out my progress.

Look out, DO school. I'm getting closer.

So I have no idea how you found this blog but now that you're here, you'll notice a serious lack of content. Here is my first post explaining this blog's existance.

I am just now finishing up my fourth quarter at Western States Chiropractic School, and I'm pulling out. I have finally decided after roughly $50,000 of tuition that I have no desire to be a chiropractor. My investment in this education has not been a total waste, though. I have developed the desire to go further into medicine, under a healthcare ideology that I have found is in near perfect alignment with my own: to become a doctor of osteopathic medicine.

In future posts, which may take forever to occur, I'll explain further my choices and my views on healthcare.

So after finals next week, I'll be in a quiet place with my Examcrackers study books and practice exams, working for the highest score I can get on everyone's favorite test, the MCAT. I'll be shadowing docs, getting volunteer hours, and further developing my passion for medicine. I plan on being in Portland (Oregon!) for at least another six months, so feel free to come grab a pint with me sometime!

Oh, by the way, my witty blog title is a blatant ripoff of my good friend Nate's popular blog, Chiropractique. Sorry Nate!
